Made from locally sourced red clay, the Barro Collection designed by Rui Pereira brings a touch of Portugal’s rich craftmanship traditions to the table, offering a contemporary take on a known typology for HAY.
Pereira’s tableware range includes everything from plates and bowls to butter dishes and candleholders that are created from durable terracotta through production processes that are closely accompanied by the human hand.
‘Being Portuguese, this material has been a part of my memory and daily life to as long as I can remember,’ says the designer. These warm and simple objects evoke a nostalgia reminiscent of objects found at street markets, restaurants, and homes across Portugal.
