HAY has joined forces with renowned furniture manufacturer Dietiker to present the Rey Collection, originally designed by Swiss designer Bruno Rey in 1971.
The collection of chairs, stools and tables retains the iconic unified silhouette and innovative screwless production process, but has been updated in new dimensions to accommodate contemporary lifestyle requirements and is available both in original colours, as well as new tones and upholstery options selected by HAY.
"To me, the Rey Chair is very honest. It has a few simple components, but is put together in an innovative way that makes it very robust. It also has generous proportions, so it's both comfortable to sit on and beautiful to look at." Rolf Hay
Developed around the acclaimed stackable chair design – known for its screwless production process – the whole collection is unified by a solid composition and rounded edges.
The collection retains the functionality and resilience of the classic designs and has been modified in new dimensions to accommodate contemporary lifestyle requirements. Available both in original colours, as well as new tones and upholstery options selected by HAY.
Bruno Rey was born in 1933 Brugg, Switzerland. After an apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker, he studied at the Zurich School of Applied Arts, where he attended classes with the pioneering designer Willy Guhl.
He opened his own studio in 1968, working on an innovative chair design that was mass produced in 1971 by Dietiker in Stein am Rhein. 3300 as the chair was originally called, later became known as Rey, the most successful Swiss chair of all time. HAY has collaborated with Dietiker to present the Rey Collection by Bruno Rey, comprising the Rey Chair, Rey Stool and Bar Stool, and Rey Table and Coffee Table.
