Meet the Palissade Chaise Longue, a new member of the Bouroullec brothers' iconic Palissade Collection. Launching just in time for the warmer months and an ideal addition to any outdoor space, from a terrace or balcony to a small garden, this elegant lounger features a curved frame that contours to a body in recline, offering excellent support. The chair's high level of comfort is matched by its graceful silhouette, and its powder-coated steel surface lends it durability and resilience that ensure that it only grows more beautiful over time.
To learn what makes this beautiful Chaise Longue an important addition to the HAY Collection, we spoke with HAY Founder and Creative Director of HAY Furniture, Rolf Hay.
What makes the Palissade collection so special?
Rolf Hay: The Palissade collection was designed to blend in rather than to stand out, and it is a perfect example of the beautiful design Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec are known for. They always manage to create products with a refined, simple aesthetic balance and yet with a strong character.
Why did you decide to add a chaise longue?
Rolf Hay: The Palissade Chaise Longue was actually designed at the same time and alongside the existing collection, but as this shape proved to be more challenging to produce, we decided give it the time it needed.
What was the most important aspect in designing the chaise longue?
Rolf Hay: Creating an object that would be beautiful, useful and comfortable all at once.
What do you hope people will enjoy about the chaise longue?
Rolf Hay: I hope they will appreciate it as the refined and graceful object that it is, all year round: Not only during summer, when we spend time outside and can actually lounge in the sun, but also during the colder months, when it is still a decorative and appealing shape to look at.
