Known for their keen eye for color, the design couple Stefan Scholten and Carole Baijings have designed a range of products from tea towels and blankets to porcelain and notebooks together with HAY. The duo had yet to design a piece of furniture for the HAY collection when Rolf asked them to design what would become the 13Eighty chair.
13Eighty took two years to develop with a lot of adjusting of the holes to create the maximum amount of flexibility and comfort while still remaining a durable long-lasting chair.
“Plastic is an interesting material, but very hard, giving this perforation a special texture”, says Stefan Scholten.
“There is a reason why we are working with the holes,” says Rolf Hay, “it gives you an extremely, nice and flexible comfort in the chair.”
Named for the number of holes in the chair, 13Eighty can be used for both indoor and outdoor and has a plastic perforated seat.
